My Dear Parish Family,

Our experience teaches us that seeds planted do not always produce a harvest. Weather patterns, soil conditions, and human labor are determinate factors. The growth of the kingdom of God, however, is assured because it rests on the power and promise of God: “As I, the Lord, have spoken, so will I do.”

The kingdom of God starts small – with each of us – but when we allow ourselves to grow in God’s life, the kingdom becomes all-encompassing. As the community of the church, we are able to respond to the needs of the entire world. As a parish community, we are able to reach out with help and goods to our cities and neighborhoods. As individuals, we are able to embrace enemies as well as friends, strangers as well as family, those in need as well as those with plenty. In these ways we become living parables doing what God created us to do.

In Christ’s Peace,

Fr. Walter
